More ways to connect with support earlier

Empower YOUth’s charity creates community programmes and opportunities that can sit outside a conventional individual service agreement — including the Empower YOUth L.A.B, youth activities, family and carer support, school-holiday programmes, community events, practical learning and partnerships.

A real need does not always arrive with the right funding pathway

Sometimes a young person needs somewhere to connect. A parent may need practical information. School participation may be becoming difficult. A young adult may need a supported way to build routine and workplace confidence. A family may benefit from a workshop, local programme or point of connection before a more formal pathway is in place.

Not every useful response needs to wait until a situation becomes urgent.

Different pathways, one wider purpose

Empower YOUth’s registered service-delivery arm provides funded and fee-for-service support. The charity can develop community activity that sits outside those individual arrangements.

Keeping the two roles clear matters. Charitable funding is not interchangeable with NDIS funding — instead, it gives the organisation another way to create access, connection and practical opportunities in the community.

Learning. Achieving. Belonging.

The Empower YOUth L.A.B. is the charity’s community space in Templestowe Lower. It creates a physical place for youth activities, learning, workshops, parent and carer sessions, community events and practical programmes. Community work needs somewhere real to happen.

The L.A.B. has its own dedicated website for current programme details, detailed What’s On information, registrations and updates.

What this work can look like

  • School-holiday programmes

Current public material includes multi-day outdoor school-holiday activity for children — combining practical challenges, nature, teamwork and hands-on experiences. Ages, dates and cost live in the current event listing.

  • L.A.B. to Table

A 12-week culinary and work-readiness programme for young people aged 16–25 who are out of work or full-time study. A small cohort works in a supported kitchen with a Head Chef to build commercial kitchen basics, work routine and confidence, and prepares community meals for older residents.

  • Community connection

Depending on the activity and funding available, community work can create connection, practical learning, parent and carer support, work-readiness experience, positive shared experiences across generations and earlier conversations about support.

Practical support can create practical opportunities

Businesses, schools, community groups, service organisations, councils, philanthropists and funders can contribute in different ways — programme funding, grants, sponsorship, resources, venue support, professional expertise, community connections and in-kind support.

Each relationship is described according to what it actually contributes. A grant proposal naming an organisation is not enough to call it a confirmed partner.
