Support designed to make everyday life more workable
Empower YOUth supports people and families with behaviour, relationships, regulation, mental health, family life, respite, school engagement and participation.
What support may help with
Depending on the person’s goals, needs and service fit, support may help:
- make routines and home life more manageable
- build practical regulation and coping strategies
- strengthen communication and relationships
- give parents and carers more confidence about how to respond
- support daily living skills and independence
- create opportunities for community participation
- provide purposeful respite
- support family reconnection or reunification work
- support regulation and re-engagement with school
- create greater consistency across the people involved in care
Start with the support required, not a fixed age bracket
Empower YOUth is a youth- and family-led organisation. Children, young people and families are at the centre of our work. Some services can also support toddlers or adults where the requested work, practitioner capability, programme, funding and practical requirements are a suitable fit.
Referrals and enquiries are considered case by case. Current pathways include NDIS-funded support, Child Protection and family-service referrals, support for parents and caregivers, kinship and foster-care contexts, private arrangements and other professional referral pathways.

You do not need to make the person fit the programme
Home life, school, behaviour, mental health, caregiving and community participation can interact. During intake, Empower YOUth considers the actual goals, context, current supports and practical requirements before confirming what it can provide. Where appropriate, support may draw on more than one programme or area of practice.
Another set of practical tools where they are useful
Not every useful strategy starts with talking. Where appropriate, trained practitioners may use movement, sensory or other body-based activities as one part of support. These approaches are not a separate programme and they are not used with every participant.
Whether they are appropriate depends on the person’s goals and needs, practitioner judgement and scope, safety, consent and how the person responds. The focus stays practical: does the strategy help the person regulate, participate, communicate or work towards an agreed functional goal?

Where support is available
Empower YOUth primarily works across Melbourne’s north-east, inner north and south-east — including Manningham, Banyule, Boroondara, Whitehorse, Nillumbik, Maroondah, Darebin, Yarra, Merri-bek, Moonee Valley, Monash, Glen Eira, Kingston and Knox.
Support further afield may be possible depending on the service, travel and current capacity, including parts of Frankston and Dandenong. Send us the suburb and support required, and we can tell you whether the location is workable before asking you to complete a full intake.
Tell us what you would like to make easier
You do not need to choose the programme first. Tell us what is happening now and what support you are looking for, and we can discuss whether Empower YOUth is a suitable fit.
